Michael C. Rawlins
Mike Rawlins is Owner and Principal Consultant of Rawlins EC Consulting. He has extensive experience providing software consulting in a wide variety of industries, and has specialized in EDI and related electronic commerce technologies since 1992. Prior to starting his own practice, Mike was a senior level consultant with Digital Equipment Corporation, consulting in various areas including EDI, systems integration, applications development, software project management, computer networks, and office automation. Mr. Rawlins currently serves as chair of the Communications and Controls subcommittee of the Accredited Standards Committee X12 of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). This subcomittee, X12C, is responsible for the technical foundations of X12's work in XML and EDI. He served as team leader of the Requirements project team of the ebXML Work Group. He has also worked with the OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) Technical Committee. Mr. Rawlins is the author of "Using XML with Legacy Business Applications", Addison-Wesley, 2004, and is a frequent speaker and commentator on EDI, XML, and emerging techologies for electronic commerce. Mike completed his Masters of Science in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2000. His master's thesis was on emerging technologies for EDI and electronic commerce, with an emphasis on how these technologies satisfy end user "non-functional" or quality requirements.
